DESCRIPTION:FEMA Disaster Assistance Training\n\n\nTuesday\, October 11 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \n\n\n(Registration Deadline: Friday October 7 @ 5:00 PM)\n\n\nNC Emergency Management\n\n\n1636 Gold Star Drive | Raleigh\, NC 27607\n\n\n6 AIA LU/HSW credits\n\n\nAIA Members: $195 | ONLY AIA Members with ‘Associate AIA‘ designation: $125 \n\n\nNon-AIA Members: $275\n\n\nRegistration Includes: Morning Coffee | Lunch | Print Materials\n\n\n\nSPACE IS LIMITED TO 75 PARTICIPANTS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program will provide training to architects\, engineers\, and others in the building profession to efficiently and effectively\, evaluate buildings and infrastructure following a hurricane or other disaster\, either natural or manmade\, so that residents and employees can return to their homes and businesses as quickly as possible. \nThrough this program\, we will train and equip professionals with the knowledge\, resources\, and credentials to gain access to disaster sites\, collaborate with public safety escorts and accompany inspection teams during evaluations to make assessments\, evaluations\, and recommendations. This course and certification process will add new volunteers to the established database of certified volunteers so that they can be mobilized in the event of a disaster. In addition\, the course can be taken by those who need to renew their Cal OES certification for an additional five years. \n\n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\n\n\n1) Participants will learn the protocol and chain of command of the National Incident Management System that enables architects\, engineers and building inspectors to contribute to disaster preparedness\, response\, and recovery\n\n\n2) Participants will describe and assess common damage and safety of infrastructure post-disaster\n\n\n3) Participants will demonstrate their understanding of the Applied Technology Council’s ATC-45 Post-hurricane Safety Evaluation of Buildings and ATC 45 Safety Evaluation of Buildings after Windstorms and Floods damage assessment procedures\n\n\n4) Licensed architects\, engineers\, and ICC-certified building inspectors will receive a Cal-OES\n\n\n \n\n\nPRESENTED BY\n\n\nKlaus Perkins PE\, SE\, CDT\, LEED AP BD+C\n\n\nDepartment Head – Structural\, Associate Principal | Clark Nexsen\n\n\nKlaus Perkins is an Associate Principal and Structural Department Head with Clark Nexsen\, Inc. and holds professional engineering licenses in North Carolina\, Virginia\, California\, and Florida. He is a Structures Specialist for North Carolina USAR Task Force 8\, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator for the NCSEA SEER Committee\, and a Cal OES Assessor\, Coordinator\, and Instructor.
