DESCRIPTION:Spring 2024 Joint Lecture Series \nJoan Busquets\nMartin Bucksbaum Professor in Practice of Urban Planning and Design\,\nHarvard University Graduate School of Design \nMonday\, February 12 | 1:30 – 3:00 PM\nIn-Person or Virtual\nNC State University\nKamphoefner Hall\, Burns Auditorium\n2221 Stinson Dr. | Raleigh\, NC \nFOR MORE DETAILS OR TO REGISTER\, CLICK HERE \nJoan Busquets is the Martin Bucksbaum Professor in Practice of Urban Planning and Design at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. A world-renowned urban planner\, urban designer\, and architect\, Busquets served as Head of Urban Planning for the Barcelona City Council during the formative years\, from 1983 to 1989\, and in the preparations for the Barcelona Olympics in 1992\, including the New Downtowns program for the City and the improvement process for existing neighborhoods. \nBusquets has participated in strategic urban planning and design — most involving public-private partnerships — for the cities of Den Haag\, Lisbon\, Marseille\, Rotterdam\, Singapore\, Sao Paulo and Barcelona Metropolis. His Team had completed projects for the modern center of Trento\, and Alghero in Italy; the transformation of Vilanova; harbor front in Coruña and for housing in the Maquinista development of Barcelona\, in Spain.

This is the annual Paul Tesar lecture. \nFounder of Bangkok Project Studio\, and one of today’s most influential Thai figures in architecture\, Boonserm Premthada has been the subject of Bêka & Lemoine‘s latest documentary\, ‘Big Ears Listen With Feet’. The film highlights the personal story of the architect\, unveiling all the events and happenings that shaped his unique identity and sensibility. “Deaf from birth”\, the short movie looks at how the architect’s disability led him to listen in a different way\, learning from elephants. who “despite their large ears […] perceive sound mostly through their feet.”
