DESCRIPTION:AIAT Leadership Forum\, COTE and BEC-RT present\n\nThursday\, March 21\, 2024\n5:00 – 7:30 PM\nCfAD \n1.5 AIA LU|HSW \n\nJoin AIAT’s Leadership Forum\, COTE\, and BEC-RT for Farm to Building\, a farmers market concept event seeking to address the importance and viability of bio-based materials\, many of which are local to our region\, in a unique and engaging way! The event will have four booths featuring TimberLab\, Plantd\, Raleigh Reclaimed\, and Heirloom Builders. They will highlight different local bio-based material such as mass timber\, grass\, reclaimed wood\, strawbale\, and earthen plaster with a range of applications\, from commercial to residential to interior design. You are invited to attend rotating mini-presentations at each booth while snacking on local-made appetizers\, beer\, and kombucha. \nThe event is sponsored and supported by AIA Triangle Leadership Forum\, COTE (Committee on the Environment)\, and BEC-RT (Building Enclosure Council – Research Triangle). Registration is free.

Enjoy exploring the two-acre garden\, celebrate SEEDS 28th anniversary\, and meet some of the students that learn and grow there.  Volunteer opportunities are available on Saturday\, May 14th and Saturday May 21st. \nJOIN US AT SEEDS! \nRSVP HERE \n\nSEEDS is a non-profit organization housing a two-acre urban garden and kitchen classroom in the heart of Durham. SEEDS develops the capacity of young people to respect life\, the earth\, and each other through growing\, cooking\, and sharing food.  Learn more about SEEDS HERE \nAIAT Leadership Forum Class of 2021 consists of eight architects\, designers\, and engineers that have undergone leadership training over the last year and are culminating training through a design/build project at SEEDS. The open house will reveal the chicken coop our team has been working on designing and building over the past several weeks. The addition of this coop will allow SEEDS to incorporate livestock into their experiential teaching program. We are also working on completing a few other smaller scale projects on site to help improve SEEDS visibility from the street and create a more user-friendly space on campus.  \n\n\n\n\nVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP MAKE AN IMPACT AT SEEDS!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, May 14th | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM\nDo you like working with your hands?  Would you like to learn more about chicken coop construction?  Join us to participate in construction of chicken coop on site at SEEDS!  Email Colin McCarville colin.mccarville@ibigroup.com to volunteer on Saturday\, May 14th. \nSaturday\, May 21st | 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM\nHelp put the finishing touches on the chicken coop\, add some landscaping\, prepare foundation for site signage\, or pull some weeds around the two-acre farm!  After some morning volunteering\, enjoy lunch and a cold beverage at one of the many great venues nearby and come back to celebrate at the open house!   \nPlease sign up to volunteer! \n VOLUNTEER HERE
