SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn - Coatings that Work: Innovations that Transcend Protection & Appearance
DESCRIPTION:AIA Triangle Lunch & Learn \nSponsored by \n \n\n\n\nCoatings that work: Innovations that transcend protection and appearance\n\n\nThursday\, September 8\, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | 1 AIA LU/HSW\n\n\nOption to attend in-person or online via Zoom\n\n\nCenter for Architecture & Design | 14 E. Peace Street | Raleigh\, NC\n\n\nLunch will be provided for in-person attendees\n\n\n(Deadline for in-person registration: Wednesday\, September 7 at 10:00 am)\n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION OPTIONS \nZOOM REGISTRATION ONLY – Register HERE to attend online and receive your Zoom link \nIN-PERSON REGISTRATION \n\nAIA Members/AIA Triangle Annual Partners: $0 (RSVP BELOW)\nNon-Members: $35 (PURCHASE TICKET BELOW)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOwners look to you for products that help buildings look better longer. Greater expectations for space utilization and project design are reframing how traditional building products should contribute to the efficient use of resources and promote well-being for the occupant. \nThis course will highlight the coating innovations engineered to work harder. We will walk through the new generation of coatings and review how they can be utilized on new and renovation projects. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nIntroduce the next generation of interior coatings and discuss their applicability to promote occupant well-being and minimize resource usage on new construction and renovation projects.\nIntroduce exterior coating technology that is able to self-clean\, resulting in lower maintenance costs for the owner.\nReview the conditions that merit a concrete restoration and protection system\, minimizing the environmental impact and cost of total resurfacing.\nLearn how new technologies also support green building standards\, sustainable building practices\, and meet stringent VOC regulations.\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY \nRuss Hansen\, NACE CIP2\, LEED Green Assoc.\, CSI \nRuss Hansen grew up in the paint industry as the son of a painting contractor in the Washington\, D.C. area. A graduate of The University of South Carolina\, he is a NACE CIP Level II Coatings Inspector\, LEED Green Associate\, CSI board member\, and has over 20 years’ experience in the paint industry.\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION INFORMATION \nZOOM REGISTRATION \n\nRegister HERE to attend online and receive your Zoom link\n\nIN-PERSON REGISTRATION  \n\nRegister BELOW to attend in-person \nDeadline for in-person registration is Wednesday\, September 7th at 10:00 am\nLunch will be provided to in-person registrants\nThe program will begin promptly at 12:00 PM\nRegistration begins at 11:30 AM – Please arrive early to allow time for check-in and lunch\nFace masks are optional

SUMMARY:Virtual Lunch & Learn: Lighting for Vertical Surfaces and LED Technology
DESCRIPTION:Lighting for Vertical Surfaces and LED Technology\n\n\nThursday\, September 22nd | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | 1 AIA LU/HSW\n\n\nVIRTUAL PROGRAM VIA ZOOM ONLY\n\n\n\n\nZOOM REGISTRATION: Register HERE to attend online and receive your Zoom link \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course applies LED technology to the lighting of vertical surfaces. The course first looks at a series of applications to show how vertical illumination affects spatial brightness and perception\, energy utilization and occupant comfort. We then consider lighting strategies for lighting different surfaces. Finally\, we identify appropriate lighting equipment for each approach and offer guidelines for locating luminaires for effective vertical illumination. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nDiscuss Lighting for vertical surfaces\nExplain Spatial brightness and perception\nIdentify Strategies for lighting different surfaces\nIdentify guidelines for placement of luminaires for effective vertical illumination\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY \nBrian Onody\, Senior Training Consultant\, SESCO Lighting\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION INFORMATION \nZOOM REGISTRATION ONLY – Register HERE to attend online and receive your Zoom link

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn - Eliminating Concrete Moisture Through Sustainable Design
DESCRIPTION:AIA Triangle Lunch & Learn Program \nSponsored by \n \n\n\n\nEliminating Concrete Moisture Through Sustainable Design\n\n\nTuesday\, September 27\, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | 1 AIA LU/HSW\n\n\nOption to attend in-person or online via Zoom\n\n\nCenter for Architecture & Design | 14 E. Peace Street | Raleigh\, NC\n\n\nLunch will be provided for in-person attendees\n\n\n(Deadline for in-person registration: Monday\, September 26 at 10:00 am)\n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION OPTIONS \nZOOM REGISTRATION ONLY – Register HERE to attend online and receive Zoom link \nIN-PERSON REGISTRATION \n\nAIA Members/AIA Triangle Annual Partners: $0 (RSVP BELOW)\nNon-Members: $35 (PURCHASE TICKET BELOW)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFew aspects of the design process are conducted in “silos” as disassociated from one another as how many projects approach interior concrete slab specifications and subsequent flooring specification sections. This is not done intentionally\, rather\, it is a by-product of the lack of coordination\, and fundamental understanding\, between those involved with the structural elements and those involved with the aesthetic and finishing elements. During this presentation\, we will discuss sustainability and what it means; drawing the attendee into a clear discussion of how sustainability relates to LEED\, Lean Construction\, Green Building\, and process improvement. Inconsistencies with current specification processes related to concrete moisture as compared to the tenets of sustainability will be exposed\, with clear recommendations given as to how the specifying professional can resolve these disconnects. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nIdentify the fundamental characteristics of sustainable design\nIdentify the fundamental characteristics of sustainable design and examine the sustainable aspects of concrete as a building material\nEvaluate the current approach for testing concrete moisture against the principles of sustainability\nImplement procedures that indemnify the specifying professional against failed project timelines/cost overruns and failed flooring due to moisture.\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY \nMike Nichols\, Southeast Regional Manager\, ISE Logik Industries \nA North Carolina native\, UT alum\, Mike has served in various sales/specifier roles for 35 years for several flooring manufacturers\, large and small.\n\n\n\nZOOM REGISTRATIONS ONLY – Register HERE to attend online and receive Zoom link \nIN-PERSON REGISTRATION – REGISTER BELOW \n\nRegister below to attend in-person\nDeadline for in-person registration is Monday\, September 26 at 10:00 am\nLunch will be provided to in-person registrants\nThe program will begin promptly at 12:00 PM\nRegistration begins at 11:30 AM – Please arrive early to allow time for check-in and lunch\nFace masks are optional
