SUMMARY:Live Webinar - Hot Topics in Steel Construction 2.0
DESCRIPTION:AIA TRIANGLE WEBINAR \nSPONSORED BY  \n \nHot Topics in Steel Construction 2.0 \nOnline Zoom Meeting \nMay 14 | 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm | 1 AIA HSW Credit \nPROGRAM \nArchitects want to know what new innovations and techniques exist in the structural steel industry and how they can be applied to express their designs\, overcome client serviceability and safety concerns while optimizing budget and schedule. Participants in this program will learn about sustainable and efficient framing systems\, methods and practices which make steel the material of choice for any project\, no matter the size\, shape or end use. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nParticipants will illustrate the domestic structural steel industry’s environmentally conscious supply chain which utilizes clean\, efficient processes to create structural steel shapes with primarily recycled material.\nParticipants will demonstrate how structural steel framing addresses the challenges of resilient building design for earthquakes\, flooring\, fire\, extreme wind\, blasts and more.\nParticipants will discuss how innovative structural steel systems can improve efficiency\, reduce schedule and increase overall safety by moving construction processes to a controlled environment offsite.\nParticipants will explore fire protection concepts and explain how structural steel systems can safely overcome extreme heat conditions cost effectively by utilizing passive or active systems along with performance-based design techniques.\n\nPRESENTED BY \nDennis C. Pilarczyk\, Jr.\, PE\, CWI \nDennis Pilarczyk is a Senior Structural Steel Specialist with the American Institute of Steel Construction\, serving the Raleigh and Charlotte\, NC markets. AISC is a non-partisan\, not-for-profit technical institute and trade association established in 1921 to serve the structural steel design community and construction industry in the United States. Prior to starting with AISC in July 2018\, Dennis worked for a regional engineering firm for 14 years\, serving as the structural department manager for the final 5 years at the firm. Mr. Pilarczyk is a graduate of NC State University with a degree in Civil Engineering.
