Participants will understand indoor air quality assessment\, including mold\, and how it may impact projects during the planning and design phase for either renovation or new construction projects. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nParticipants will describe Industry Standard indoor air quality/mold/moisture assessment techniques\nParticipants will discover how sample data is collected and interpreted\nParticipants will evaluate potential project impacts (i.e. budget\, project duration\, etc.)\nParticipants will select qualified profession for resolution of indoor air quality/mold/moisture related problem\n\nPRESENTED BY \nChristopher B. Murray\, CIH\, CSP | Principal Industrial Hygienist/Project Manager \nMr. Murray is certified in the comprehensive aspects of industrial hygiene by the American Industrial Hygiene Association and as a safety professional by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Mr. Murray has been involved in a number of significant projects for municipal\, commercial and industrial/manufacturing clients throughout the United States and abroad. His expertise includes: OSHA regulatory compliance audits including personal noise exposure evaluations\, air contaminant evaluations\, indoor air quality evaluations\, ventilation assessments\, recommendations for engineering controls\, and review and development of OSHA-required programs\, including respiratory protection\, hazard communication\, blood borne pathogens\, asbestos\, lead\, among others. Mr. Murray has provided litigation support in industrial hygiene for both plaintiff and defense cases. \nMr. Murray is a past president of the Carolinas Local Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and currently is an at large board member of the Eastern Carolina Safety and Health Conference committee.

For over 20 years\, she has thoughtfully and efficiently guided award-winning projects from pre-design through construction administration. As a Project Manager\, she carefully guides key stakeholders through the development of esteemed projects for their communities by crafting a unique design process for each of her clients. For Teri\, coupling her ability to communicate design ideas with meaningful community engagement is essential to her role in the design process. Teri’s talent for leading the architectural design process has been recognized and celebrated throughout her career. After graduating from North Carolina State University. She became one of the first five African American women to become a Registered Architect in the state of NorthCarolina. In 2007\, Teri joined the Freelon Group and rapidly advanced to Senior Associate as a result of her exceptional client management skills. After serving as Lead Project Manager on award-winning projects like the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and EmancipationPark\, she was selected to participate in Perkins+Will’s Leadership Institute and appointed to the firm’s Diversity Council. As an insightful mentor to young architects\, Teri shared her personal and professional experiences as a minority architect during the 2015 National Organization of Minority Architects conference as a seminar panelist. She has also shown her commitment to her community as a Preservation Durham Executive Board Member\, a Durham Rotary Club Member\, a Minister for Stephen Ministries\, and a volunteer with Big Brother/Big Sister of Durham. In addition\, Teri is a member of the Board of Advisors of the United Minority Contractors Association of NorthCarolina as well as a member of the Durham Arts Council’s SmART Resource Board. \n\nElizabeth Caliendo\, AIA | Senior Architect\, HH Architecture \nElizabeth received her Bachelor of Architecture from North Carolina State University’s College of Design. As an active member of the local design community\, she joined the AIA Triangle Board in 2018 and is currently an AIA Triangle Board Member and is Secretary on the AIAT Board Executive Committee and serves as chair of the AIA Triangle Design Awards Task Force. She served six years on the Raleigh Historic Development Commission (RHDC) and is now serving on the RHDC Design Review Advisory Committee. Elizabeth is passionate about designing spaces that are thoughtful\, compelling\, and impactful. She brings over 25 years of design expertise to our team. As Senior Architect\, she leads our architecture studio in creating meaningful and innovative spaces for our clients and our community. \n\nShawna M. Mabie\, AIA\, NCARB\, LEED AP BD+C | Senior Architect\, Duda|Paine \nShawna is an Associate at Duda|Paine Architects based in Durham\, North Carolina where she manages projects and strives to build a shared sense of ownership among her team members. With over 12 years of experience in the profession\, Shawna’s passion for research guides her as she seeks to create architecture that profoundly impacts the experience of users. Shawna previously served as Chair for the AIA Triangle Leadership Forum and as the Architect Chair for the AIA Triangle Emerging Professionals and Young Architects Forum. Shawna currently serves as the AIA North Carolina Emerging Professional Director where she hopes to expand on programming that focuses on keeping Emerging Professionals and Young Architects in the profession. \n\nZakiya Wiggins\, Assoc. AIA\, NOMA \nZakiya Wiggins is an architectural designer\, artist\, and advocate from Cary\, NC. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University and a Master of Architecture from Morgan State University. Zakiya is the Vice President of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NCNOMA)\, a board member of Diversify Architecture\, a 2019 member of the AIA Virginia Emerging Leaders in Architecture class\, and a recipient of the prestigious Alpha Rho Chi Medal. Zakiya is passionate about both understanding the current state of the industry and coming up with solutions for a truly equitable built environment.
