DESCRIPTION:EP/YAF Mentorship Pods – Kickoff Meeting\n\n\nThursday\, January 26 | 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin AIA Triangle’s EP/YAF Task Force in our annual\, virtual mentorship program. In a series of sessions over the semester\, we connect students\, emerging professionals\, and seasoned professionals across North Carolina. Conversations range from portfolio and resume reviews\, professional practice questions\, licensure and alternative paths\, and everything in between! \nSIGN UP FOR THE KICKOFF MEETING HERE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProfessional Mentors Needed!\n\n\n\nDesign professionals and emerging design professionals – students need your support this semester! The purpose of this event is to provide students with mentorship opportunities and connections beyond their school. \nIf you are interested in serving as a professional mentor\, sign up through the link below to participate in this semester’s program. We will share this information with students and use it to match licensed/registered professionals\, emerging professionals\, and students into pods based on similar interests and goals for mentorship. \nThe kickoff meeting will be on Thursday January 26th to introduce the program and to have a short ice breaker for each group. Peace Street | Raleigh\, NC 27604 \nRegistration is required. Option to attend in-person or online.REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nDr. Adriaenssens’s research focuses on lightweight surface systems and how they can be optimized and realized to interact with extreme structural or environmental loading. This includes research on flexible and rigid shells and plates\, submerged flexible membranes and nets\, and metamaterials with applications for a resilient urban environment.  The applications range from adaptive building shading devices to large-scale inflatable storm surge barriers and are sometimes inspired by systems that evolved in biology\, art or architecture.
