They will define the entire development process\, including land acquisition and design development strategy\, construction\, and leasing. The tour will also include participants from the Design Firms responsible for the implementation of Raleigh Iron Works. Lindsey Kretchman from the Raleigh architecture firm Cline Design Associates will describe the firm’s design process on The Forge mixed use multifamily building and its integration into the Raleigh Iron Works development.\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter the tour\, join the Women in Architecture for a networking social at Lynwood Brewing Concern located at Dock 1053\, 1053 E. Whitaker Mill Road\, Raleigh\, NC 27604. DESCRIPTION:AIA Triangle EP/YAF Hard Hat Tour  \nAll are welcome to attend! \n \nLIMITED TO 20 PARTICIPANTS \nHard Hat Tour – Raleigh Iron Works \nTuesday\, April 26\, 2022 | 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM  \n(Deadline to register is April 26th at 10:00 AM) \nRaleigh Iron Works Construction Site \n2200 Atlantic Avenue | Raleigh\, NC 27604  \nCE credit pending approval \nA tour of the construction of Raleigh Iron Works – a mixed-use development in Raleigh\, North Carolina. This district will be at the core of growth in Raleigh\, working to tie innovation and history together. Raleigh Iron Works utilizes two existing\, structurally unique warehouses and reimagines them into something new for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. Potential uses include restaurant\, retail\, office\, residential\, and more. This hard hat tour will walk participants through the active construction site to discuss the progress and process of this project. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nParticipants will discuss the challenges of renovating an existing site\, based on anecdotal stories from the construction team regarding research on existing utilities and how that has impacted the construction approach\nParticipants will evaluate the process of designing for a mix of uses\, understanding the flexibility of programming and the correlation in the phasing and decision-making process of the construction\nParticipants will examine best practices of steel construction\, analyzing how existing and new structural systems are integrated successfully while showcasing the existing steel elements\nParticipants will evaluate the construction sequence for these two ongoing projects\, understanding the impacts of the pandemic on the construction and the unique construction goals of this project\n\nPRESENTED BY \nChristy Zeidler\, Construction Contract Administrator\, Senior Associate\, LS3P \nLS3P’s Senior Associate Christy Zeidler brings over 15 years of expertise in construction administration. Highly experienced in complex and large-scale commercial projects\, Christy is skilled at managing both new construction and upfits within existing shell space. She is adept at balancing upfit and shell schedules\, coordinating equipment\, and navigating tenant and leasing requirements. Christy has developed a reputation for providing win-win solutions to the challenges that may arise between project stakeholders during the construction process. Before joining LS3P in 2007\, Christy worked with a general contractor in Greenville\, NC; her construction experience has given her insight into multiple aspects of the construction delivery process\, which informs her role in construction contract administration for the firm.
