SUMMARY:Breaking Down A/E Coordination
DESCRIPTION:AIA Triangle Lunch & Learn \nBREAKING DOWN A/E COORDINATION\n \nSponsored by\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOctober 24\, 2023\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM\nAttend in-person or virtually\nAIA CE Credit Pending Approval\n\n\nWells Fargo Building\n13th Floor – Large Conference Room\n\n\n\n150 Fayetteville St. Raleigh\, NC 27601\n**The closest parking deck is Alexander Square Parking deck at 120 S Wilmington St. An Optima associate will validate Alexander Square parking tickets if you present them at the event.**\n\n\n\n\nLunch will be provided for all in-person attendees\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArchitects and engineers have different design foci and methods\, but most building projects demand that architects and engineers communicate and work together. This is necessary to: meet the clients’ requirements\, comply with relevant standards\, achieve design coherence and then a high performance and safe building. Collaboration involves the design disciplines working together\, sharing knowledge\, learning from each other\, and\, by that\, designing a building informed by professional inputs and consensus. Collaboration also involves acknowledging that elements may change and design development is not only inevitable\, but desirable. This course will explore the Engineering side of project design and implementation to help build a better looking project. Engineers will share past experiences and common coordination issues to help head off these issues earlier in the design process rather than during construction when they would be more costly to fix. Typical coordination issues can range from above ceiling items\, like Mechanical and Plumbing\, to room facing Electrical\, Technology\, and Fire Protection systems. This Lunch & Learn is being offered in-person and virtually. Registration details below. \n \n\n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\n\n\n\n\nAttendees will explore the engineering side of projects for each discipline and better understand how the design focus for those disciplines impacts the overall project. \nAttendees will explore the necessary clearances for equipment and why this should be addressed early in design. \nAttendees will review various code requirements and understand why those requirements are necessary. \nThe presenters will share past experiences and list some of the most common coordination issues that appear in projects. Attendees will be able to use these to help head off these issues earlier in the design process rather than during construction when they would be more costly to fix. \n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY\n\n\nMorgan Gunter\, PE | Electrical Engineer at Optima Engineering and\nEvan Connell\, PE | Mechanical Engineer at Optima Engineering \n\n\n\nMorgan Gunter is an Electrical Engineer with experience in lighting\, control systems\, and power distribution using REVIT\, AutoCAD\, and BIM planning. He has an extensive understanding of various project types\, such as new buildings\, existing facilities\, K-12\, churches\, high rise office buildings\, and manufacturing facilities\, while continuing to add to his wide range of design abilities. His troubleshooting expertise with knowledge of arc-flash analysis\, field surveys\, and communications make him a well-versed Electrical Engineer. \n  \nEvan Connell is a Mechanical & Plumbing Engineer in the Raleigh office with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State with more than ten years of experience. His experience lies in the design and development of air and water side CV and VAV systems\, geothermal\, critical environmental\, sound sensitive spaces\, VRF\, dust collection\, domestic supply and gravity waste/vent distribution\, as well as a number of other systems. Energy analysis modeling\, Revit\, and AutoCAD document drafting on projects such as K-12\, multi-family\, commercial retail\, and higher education build on his extensive knowledge for both new construction as well as renovation. His expertise in the design of VRF\, ground-source\, and high-efficiency HVAC equipment is always set with sustainable design in mind.\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION OPTIONS – ATTEND IN-PERSON OR ONLINE \n\nAIA Member/AIAT Annual Partners: $0 | Non-member: $35\nLunch will be provided for in-person attendees\n(Deadline for registration: Monday\, October 23 at 12:00 pm)\nThe program will begin promptly at 12:00 PM\nCheck-in begins at 11:30 AM\nRegister to attend in-person below.\nFor those attending in-person\, the closest parking deck is Alexander Square Parking deck at 120 S Wilmington St. An Optima associate will validate Alexander Square parking tickets if you present them at the event.\n\n**Click here to register for virtual session** \nIn Person-Registration Below:
