An overview of the three main elements of Light pollution which includes light trespass, sky glow and glare, as well as methods to reduce it. An analysis on the creation and importance of a candela distribution curve and how it pertains to outdoor lighting applications. An overview of exterior lighting cutoff classifications, distribution curves and an introduction to lighting zones. Finally, a synopsis of current sea turtle legislation.

Located on the Northeast Cape Fear River, the project goes above and beyond to restore and celebrate the native coastal ecology and illuminate the site’s history as a working waterfront. The site and structural designs were shaped by an extensive community-driven master planning process and publicly funded through a bond.
