Multi Family Accessibility (Earn 8 HSW)

Earn 8 AIA HSW Credits -Program will include requirements that impact multi-family housing accessibility, as found in the Fair Housing Accessibility Guidelines, the 2018 NC Building Code and its Accessibility Standard A117.1 – 2009, the 2010 ADA Standards and new safe harbor standards approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines.

Earn 4.5 AIA HSW Credits -Program will review the most common items that are missed in design and construction resulting in violations of accessibility requirements from the federal agency that develops and enforces it. Participants will develop an understanding of what federal inspectors and attorneys will be focusing on in their inspections of residential (Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines) and Commercial (2010 ADA Standards), as well as develop an understanding of what changes can be anticipated in state and federal accessibility requirements and when these changes will go into effect.
