Join BEC-RT for the reboot of its annual symposium as it “peels back the layers” of what makes a high performing building enclosure with presentations spanning from “concept to construction.”
This year BEC-RT will host a half-day symposium and product showcase at Raleigh Iron Works on Thursday, November 9 from 12:30 – 5:00 PM. Raleigh Iron Works (RIW) is an adaptive reuse project of the Peden Steel Plant, originally constructed in the 1880’s, that now features restaurants, breweries and shops. This year’s lectures spotlight local experts, such as Dana Gulling, Professor of Architecture at NCSU and author of Manufacturing Architecture, An Architect’s Guide to Custom Processes, Materials and Applications and Diane Colemen, Carolinas Community Manager for USGBC. Members of the RIW design and construction team, including Chris Erario (LS3P), Hunter Nichols (Brasfeild & Gorrie), Philp and Mary Brinn (Brinn Glass), and Kevin Berry and Ryan Wilborne (WJE), will participate in a panel discussion on how they transformed a 140 year old structure into a forward-looking sustainable building. Finally, we will wrap up the event with a series of hands-on enclosure testing demonstrations and free beer!
Lunch Provided (Eastcut Sandwich Bar). 4 AIA HSW and 2 USGBC credits (pending approval).
