Environmental Social Governance (ESG) is a set of standards to measure a company’s performance for being good stewards of the environment, but also critical for corporate transparency and disclosure. With required SEC reporting on the near horizon, ESG standards will provide key performance indicators for all companies in the near future. This presentation will offer guidance on the significance of ESG to your clients and how architects and their engineering partners can play a crucial role in helping clients achieve their ESG goals through multiple decarbonization strategies, including building optimization, energy and water efficiency and sustainability data.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Participants will be able to define ESG (Environmental Social Governance) and how they can help their clients achieve Global Reporting initiative (GRI) high standards for their clients, specifically focusing on how architectural and engineering strategies can produce decarbonization results by reducing energy costs, usage and emissions

  • Participants will be able to demonstrate the usefulness of building optimization solutions and performance tools, such as analytics, energy modeling, energy audits and water performance to help their clients reach sustainability goals

  • Participants will be able to identify an array of MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) strategies to effectively reach decarbonization targets, including solar photovoltaics, energy recovery ventilation, geothermal systems, tracking occupancy/energy use, intelligent lighting controls, and more

  • Participants will be able to explain to clients the benefits of utilizing embodied carbon mitigation strategies in structural engineering such as design optimization and selective material specification

  • Participants will be able to recognize the value of sustainable civil engineering practices, such as storm control management, water reclamation infrastructure and the use of cisterns.
