The Future of Architecture & Environmental Sustainability 2.0 |
This panel discussion is a continuation of a conversation on the future of architecture and environmental sustainability that was first held in 2021 by AIA North Carolina. Moderated by Matt Barnett, AIA, Senior Architect, LS3P and the Chair of AIA North Carolina’s Environmental Sustainability/AIA 2030 Task Force, this panel of architects, educators and engineers – all of whom have demonstrated not only a commitment to the AIA National 2030 Challenge and are working diligently to ensure their work aligns with these mandates – who will dive into the conversation about how to implement the tactics and strategies that will move the profession of architecture forward and place architects at the forefront of climate change and climate mitigation efforts. |
LEARNING OBJECTIVES |
1. Participants will understand how to incorporate discussions about ethics and how these conversations inform decision-making regarding architecture and environmental stewardship |
2. Participants will analyze strategies and tactics used to engage engineers during conceptual design to better communicate desired environmental sustainability outcomes and inform building performance |
3. Participants will implement business practices and project procurement influences throughout the design and building processes to ensure sustainable work |
4. Participants will define educational influences on practice and culture surrounding environmental stewardship |
