This program will provide training to architects, engineers, and others in the building profession to efficiently and effectively, evaluate buildings and infrastructure following a hurricane or other disaster, either natural or manmade, so that residents and employees can return to their homes and businesses as quickly as possible.
Through this program, we will train and equip professionals with the knowledge, resources, and credentials to gain access to disaster sites, collaborate with public safety escorts and accompany inspection teams during evaluations to make assessments, evaluations, and recommendations. This course and certification process will add new volunteers to the established database of certified volunteers so that they can be mobilized in the event of a disaster. In addition, the course can be taken by those who need to renew their Cal OES certification for an additional five years.
