Building Enclosure Council – Research Triangle and Charlotte Chapters Present:
NC Zoo Asia Exhibit: Case Study and Tour
Friday, June 27th
NC Zoo, Stedman Education Center, Asheboro NC
Join us for a case study and project tour presented by Little Diversified Architectural Consulting and Rodgers Builders of the recently constructed Asia Exhibit before the official opening to the public in 2026! This expansion project, as part of the NC Connect Bond funding and generous donations from their Zoo Society Members, will highlight habitats for iconic species such as tigers, Komodo dragons, Visayan warty pigs, Asian small-clawed otters, king cobras, and white-cheeked gibbons. The 12.5-acre project site, located in the heart of the 2,000-acre zoo, consists of over 8 structures including an entrance bridge, 300-person café, gift shop, viewing pavilion, animal habitats, and support buildings, all designed to incorporate the textures, shapes, technology, and cultural references from the animals’ native origins. This event collaboration between the Charlotte and Research Triangle Building Enclosure Council chapters will take place on Friday June 27th and begin at the Stedman Education Center at the NC Zoo. 3 AIA CEUs (pending).
