Minimum Requirements for Project Level Architects:
- Degree from an NAAB accredited Architecture program
- Active licensure from a state Board of Architecture with the ability to seek reciprocity for licensure within the Commonwealth of Virginia and State of North Carolina
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of Revit/BIM
- Strong understanding of review authorities and how to effectively respond to comments
Excellent knowledge of MS Office - United States Citizenship is required
- Reports Daily to Raleigh, NC
Preference will be given to Candidates demonstrating:
- 6+ years of professional experience in Architecture design and consulting
- Project Management experience
- Proposal preparation (business development) experience
What You will Do –
This is an experienced position involved in non-routine and complex assignments. The Project Architect works with the Project Manager(s) to develop design concepts which are incorporated into the final product by Staff Designers and Engineers. This Project Architect position includes overseeing specific jobs as Project Manager which requires a blend of leadership and technical design contributions.
The ability to work on several projects at once and to continuously reprioritize work is critical in this position.
Typical Duties
- Producing sketches for complicated design tasks
- Preparing and delegating preliminary task lists
- Incorporating design concepts from schematic design into design development
- Coordinating design clearances
- Selecting details
- Documenting existing conditions
- Troubleshooting of existing installations and designs
- Editing construction specification sections
- Attending construction meetings and producing site observation reports (occasional local travel required)
- Producing final punch lists
- Researching non-routine code issues
- Preparing addendums and change orders
- Preparing opinions of probable cost for materials and systems and reviewing contractor cost estimates
- Value engineering
- Putting own work through the quality control review process
- Reviewing technical work of others
- Responding to comments from review authorities
