k-12 educational outreach
AIA Triangle K-12 Outreach Task Force is committed to being visible and active in schools and education events in the Triangle region. The task force promotes awareness and exposure to the field of architecture and design. Volunteers engage communities through a variety of hands-on activities and presentations, serving as a resource for area teachers, parents, and students curious about careers in the architecture industry.
The K-12 Education Outreach Task Force is committed to engaging the community and being visible and involved in the schools and at events in the Triangle region. The task force promotes awareness of the profession and the impact architecture has on the world to the children who will shape our future. The task force welcomes volunteers of all ages and with many different passions for children and education. We welcome requests from teachers and educators all over the Triangle, so please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions and educational needs.
K-12 ACTIVITIES & RESOURCES INCLUDE:
- Classroom presentations (lectures, hands-on activities, design assistance for school projects, etc)
- Presence at local community events
- Mentoring
- ScaleUP Design Activity
- Book donation program
- Participation in career fairs
- Providing resources to educators and classrooms
- STEM activities for children with disabilities

ASPIRING ARCHITECTS
While AIA Triangle is committed to awareness and introduction to architecture, other regional and national programs dive deeper. Camps, after-school programs, and mentorship opportunities harness students’ creativity and allow students to explore careers in architecture and related fields.

TASK FORCE
Participation is open to all AIA Triangle members and Allied Members. Join the force to actively participate in your community and develop a pipeline of future Architects. Core task force members meet quarterly and act as a conduit for volunteer participation in K-12 activities, leveraging the network of AIA Triangle firms.
