Farm to Building

Join AIAT's Leadership Forum, COTE, and BEC-RT for Farm to Building, a farmers market concept event seeking to address the importance and viability of bio-based materials, many of which are local to our region, in a unique and engaging way! The event will have four booths featuring TimberLab, Plantd, Raleigh Reclaimed, and Heirloom Builders. They will highlight different local bio-based material such as mass timber, grass, reclaimed wood, strawbale, and earthen plaster with a range of applications, from commercial to residential to interior design. You are invited to attend rotating mini-presentations at each booth while snacking on local-made appetizers, beer, and kombucha.

Accessibility Public Accommodations (Earn 4 HSW)

Earn 4.5 AIA HSW Credits -Program will review the most common items that are missed in design and construction resulting in violations of accessibility requirements from the federal agency that develops and enforces it. Participants will develop an understanding of what federal inspectors and attorneys will be focusing on in their inspections of residential (Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines) and Commercial (2010 ADA Standards), as well as develop an understanding of what changes can be anticipated in state and federal accessibility requirements and when these changes will go into effect.
