Today
  • Building Enclosure Council – Intro to Structural Insulated Sheathing Materials

Center for Architecture and Design 14 E Peace Street, Raleigh, NC

This talk is designed to help the commercial building designer to understand the new products being rapidly introduced into the market that assist in installation of multiple steps of a normal commercial exterior assembly control layers, such as: thermal, air, vapor, structure, and fire control into one or fewer steps that are traditionally used in many of today’s building designs throughout the world.

  • BEC Research Triangle – Electronic Leak Detection Testing

    Online Meeting

This one-hour course will cover Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) testing methods used for quality assurance of roofing and waterproofing membranes. Participants will learn about the principles outlined in the ASTM Standard Guide D7877 and ASTM Standard Practice D8231 and will be able to identify which assemblies are compatible with electronic testing and active monitoring.

  • BEC – Control Layer Fundamentals

    Online Meeting

Join Building Enclosure Council Research Triangle for a presentation on the four major control layers of the building enclosure. Joseph Anetrella will explain the mechanisms of heat, air, bulk water and vapor and how they transport through building assemblies. This discussion will cover the importance of air barriers and continuous insulation as well as common installation challenges seen in the field. He will also present key strategies for achieving durable, energy-efficient, and thermally comfortable wall, roof and below grade assemblies.

  • BEC Research Triangle – Facade Design Using Lifecycle Carbon Analysis

    Online Meeting

With the aim of reducing total carbon emissions, this presentation will demonstrate a design approach for building façades which combines both embodied and operational carbon emissions, thereby basing design choices on total lifecycle carbon emissions.
