Environmental stewardship has become one of the foremost issues of our time. With AIA's commitment to the 2030 Challenge (carbon neutrality for all new construction), examples of radical sustainability are invaluable. Join us for a walking tour led by Facilities Manager, Sierra Dickerson and participate in a Q&A session with the design team of Frank Harmon, FAIA and David Swanson, RLA, ASLA, to learn how they navigated challenges to deliver a LEED Platinum Education Center and enhanced conservation garden - a resource for all of North Carolina.
We encourage everyone in the design community to gather in celebration of the outstanding work architects create. The AIA Triangle Design Awards recognizes excellence in architectural design throughout the Triangle area. The jury selection of this year's winning projects will be announced during the awards ceremony. We will name the projects receiving the prestigious AIA Triangle Honor and Merit Awards as well as announce this year's Gail Lindsey Award winner and the newly added Community Impact Through Design Award. This year's student scholarship recipients will also be acknowledged during the ceremony.

Lunch & Learn sponsored by Sika Corporation with option to attend in-person or virtually. Sika's presentation will focus on resinous floor and wall systems. Choosing the right floor and/or wall system for your building or project is one of the most important decisions you will make. The right system protects your investment, the wrong system could result in costly repairs, damage to the building and its contents, possibly early replacement, regulatory citation or disruption to your business and occupants.
This 8-hour course will provide attendees with a review of the accessibility requirements that impact multi-family housing accessibility, as found in the Fair Housing Accessibility Guidelines, the 2018 NC Building Code it’s Accessibility Standard A117.1 – 2009, the 2010 ADA Standards and new safe harbor standards approved by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines.
A tour of the construction of Raleigh Iron Works - a mixed-use development in Raleigh, North Carolina. This district will be at the core of growth in Raleigh, working to tie innovation and history together. Raleigh Iron Works utilizes two existing, structurally unique warehouses and reimagines them into something new for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. Potential uses include restaurant, retail, office, residential, and more. This hard hat tour will walk participants through the active construction site to discuss the progress and process of this project.
