This program will present the benefits of having a geotechnical engineer fully involved as member of the design team, explain the cost versus risk relationship that exists for the geotechnical engineering components of a project, and identify geotechnical engineering aspects that could negatively influence project success through case examples.
This lecture will examine what makes a good urban building and how can architecture contribute to the success of our cities? Further, how does the design of our streets, public paths, parks and public spaces influence the health of our cities and community? The focus will be on how our architectural design process can respond to urban design principles to make for a more vibrant, accessible and just community.

As we move forward to a post-pandemic world, things will be different for the office space in terms of occupant density, well-being, and safety. Overall, companies of all sizes will likely reexamine their long-term needs for fixed space. We begin this course where we left off in promoting a healthy workplace while attempting to understand what more we need to do with office design in a post pandemic world. We can only solve some of the immediate concerns but must be prepared to adapt and evolve each day as observations, experience and science emerge.

Design solutions, because of the workshop, will be presented and provide a platform to keep the conversation going and growing within the architecture community.
