Live Webinar – Reducing Airborne Virus Exposure

Online Meeting

Program will review ways in which viruses are thought to be transmitted, in addition to recognized methods of controlling the transmission and spread of viruses, with specific emphasis on SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. We will consider recommendations for the potential retrofit of existing buildings for the purpose of making them more effective in containing potential virus exposure.

Free – $35.00

COTE Getting to Net Zero: Building Science Tools in the Design Process

Online Meeting

COTE Getting to Net Zero Lecture 1: This session will focus on the role of building science in the design process and examine tools and software that are being used by firms to track performance metrics. It will also offer a window into how local small, medium and large firms are approaching the same challenge.

Free – $35.00

Live Webinar – Commissioning 101 – Industry Guidelines

Online Meeting

The word "Commissioning" has different meanings to different parties involved in the design and construction process. A question frequently asked by owners new to the commissioning process is, "Don't I already pay for that?". In this session we will review commissioning according to the industry standard ASHRAE Commissioning Guidelines and North Carolina Energy Code. We will identify when commissioning should start and end, the steps in between, why it is needed in today's business environment, the value to the owner, and the cost of commissioning.

ARE 5.0 PCM + PJM Workshop

Online Meeting

Join us for our Virtual Practice Management and Project Management 8 week Workshop. Tackle these two exams with like-minded candidates who are ready to put these exams behind them! Each Monday we will meet from 6-8pm to discuss the previous week's reading topics and assign new topics for the following week.

COTE Getting to Net Zero: Integrative Design: Tracking Operational and Embodied Carbon

Online Meeting

COTE Getting to Net Zero Lecture 2: Our next challenge is to build buildings with the lowest embodied carbon possible. Sometimes aligned and sometimes at odds, this session will provide an overview of how to lead a high-performance integrative design process, establish high performance goals, track energy and sustainable design goals, and achieve a low emissions building by evaluating opportunities and tradeoffs for reducing operational and embodied carbon.

Free – $35.00

EP/YAF Presents – Virtual Hard Hat Tour of NC Central Student Center

Online Meeting

Join EP|YAF for a virtual architectural tour of the NC Central Student Center at lunchtime, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, October 21st as Duda|Paine Architects presents the overarching design ideas, walks us through the project under construction, and talks about some lessons learned.

Free – $35.00

Live Webinar – Adaptive ReUse of Existing Buildings

Online Meeting

Adaptive ReUse of Existing Buildings is an introduction to the process of evaluating existing buildings and designing them for adaptive re-use. This program will explore environments, architectural, site, structural and building system aspects of any adaptive reuse building project. It will also provide guidance for the initial stages of design.

COTE Getting to Net Zero: Reducing Embodied Carbon Through Material Specs and Mass Timber Structures

Online Meeting

COTE Workshop 3: This session will focus primarily on design strategies to reduce a building’s embodied carbon through the specification of building materials. The lecture will show best practices for building specifications of interior and exterior materials and how to specify products that have EPD’s and are healthy and low in embodied carbon. The lecture will also reveal the importance of the design of the structural system for reducing the embodied carbon with an emphasis on how to design and specify mass timber systems.
