During this presentation, we will discuss sustainability and what it means; drawing the attendee into a clear discussion of how sustainability relates to LEED, Lean Construction, Green Building, and process improvement. Inconsistencies with current specification processes related to concrete moisture as compared to the tenets of sustainability will be exposed, with clear recommendations given as to how the specifying professional can resolve these disconnects.

Light plays a crucial role in defining how we experience the built environment. Yet, "good" lighting can seem difficult to achieve behind formulaic principles and technical jargon. This course seeks to demystify lighting techniques and give frameworks for approaching different aspects of lighting design. We'll also introduce a few tips that can be used as tools to help attain a well-designed project that inspires.

It’s also critical to consider the environment in our designs; we can use material selection and panel sizing to help benefit the surrounding world for a more sustainable future. Buildings must also be visually appealing. In this presentation, we will explore how to take material that is seemingly boring square metal and transform it into something stunning.

Environmental Social Governance (ESG) is a set of standards to measure a company’s performance for being good stewards of the environment, but also critical for corporate transparency and disclosure. With required SEC reporting on the near horizon, ESG standards will provide key performance indicators for all companies in the near future. This presentation will offer guidance on the significance of ESG to your clients and how architects and their engineering partners can play a crucial role in helping clients achieve their ESG goals through multiple decarbonization strategies, including building optimization, energy and water efficiency and sustainability data.

This presentation discusses the importance of detailing the exterior masonry envelope properly to avoid serious moisture intrusion issues. The program will address how flashing should be installed to manage moisture, and the advantages of detailing a complete masonry wall system to mitigate water penetration. Learn why density of the masonry unit matters and how to specify a masonry solution that delivers superior moisture control through inherent design characteristics of the wall system.

During this presentation, we will discuss published floorcovering systems installation standards and specifications that will aid the attendee in strengthening their 09 Sections to avoid these incompatibilities. In addition, identification and categorization of various floorcovering system failures, immediate and latent, will be presented, and how to properly prevent these failures from occurring during the design process for a successful floorcovering system installation.
