COTE Fall Lecture Series
Tuesday, October 27 — Embodied Carbon of Structural Systems
As operational carbon decreases, embodied carbon is becoming an increasingly important consideration in sustainable building design. Because many of the structural decisions with the greatest sustainability impact occur early in design, early collaboration between architects and structural engineers presents a significant opportunity to reduce a project’s environmental footprint. This session will introduce the primary sources of embodied carbon in building structural systems and discuss practical strategies for incorporating embodied carbon considerations into early project planning. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how design decisions influence embodied carbon in the structural systems and how early collaboration between architects and structural engineers can support project sustainability goals.

All Lectures will be from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  at the Center for Architecture and Design. (14 E Peace Street Raleigh, NC)
