This presentation will discuss various aspects of brick veneer design. This program will discuss proper brick veneer detailing topics including wall types, flashing, and weepholes, expansion/control joints, corbelling and mortar joint types. We will address ASTM specifications for brick and mortar, recommended materials for flashing and wall ties, and project specification recommendations for lump sum mason, sample panels, and hot and cold weather.

Dwayne has a BS degree in Civil Engineering from NC State University and is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer in NC. He has been in the brick industry for over 34 years serving engineers, architects, general contractors and masonry contractors. Dwayne spent the first twelve years of his career as the staff engineer at the Brick Association of NC where he eventually became the Director of Technical Services at the Brick Association of the Carolinas. Since that time, he has worked in Architectural Sales and Marketing in the brick industry spending the last 14 years with Palmetto Brick Company. Dwayne is active in several local architectural and construction related organizations in North Carolina and is a member of ASTM. Dwayne has been happily married to his high school sweetheart Tabby for 37 years. They have 3 grown children, all of which are married, and they have 7 grandchildren.
