AIA Triangle’s active task forces drive the programs, activities, and events across the Triangle and address the topics of interest important to members. Two key areas of focus for AIA Triangle task forces are public engagement and public interest.
MEET THE TASK FORCES
With so many Task Forces to choose from, there’s sure to be at least one that you are passionate about. Below are our current task forces with brief descriptions. If there are any you’re interested in pursuing, follow the link to learn more and then email the leader to apply for a position in the ranks.
AIA Membership or Allied Membership is required to serve on a task force.
BARKITECTURE
Local architects, engineers, designers, and creative minds all over the Triangle compete to create the best custom pet architecture to raise money for pets in need by supporting local foster and pet rescue organizations right here in the Triangle.
BUILDING ENCLOSURE COUNCIL
Provides an interdisciplinary forum for all those interested in the enclosure (envelope) of structures and the related building science where they are able to discuss common issues, obtain information, talk about local issues, and otherwise address related subjects
CANSTRUCTION
Use your amazing architectural skills to feed the hungry. Architects team with engineers, designers and contractors compete to design and construct structures made entirely from canned food which is then donated to the local food bank.
DESIGN AWARDS
Promote, recognize and celebrate design excellence throughout the AIA Triangle membership with the Design Awards and Award Reception held in April each year.
EMERGING PROFESSIONALS/YOUNG ARCHITECTS FORUM
Support young architects through a leadership development probgram that focuses on professional development, leadership and personal growth through professional and social activities designed to encourage networking, shared knowledge and community.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The annual event brings architects and design professionals together with A/E/C industry partners. Proceeds from the annual golf tournament support a scholarship for Triangle area students studying architecture.
JOINT LECTURE SERIES
Partners with NC State Design School of Architecture to find and attract interesting and exciting professionals to speak about all things related to our field throught the year.
K-12 EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
Shape the future of architecture by working with children to promote awareness of the profession and impact that architecture has on the world.
LEADERSHIP FORUM
Leadership Forum connects a select group of area Emerging Professionals with top leaders and architectural firms across the Triangle to develop successful leaders with meaningful careers.
SMALL FIRM ROUNDTABLE
Facilitate informal meetings with small practioners to encourage shared knowledge and lessons learned with architects who might otherwise not interact outside of their small offices.
TOUR OF RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE
Educate and inspire the public about good residential design, increasing awareness of the AIA, and promoting the architectural profession and the value of working with an architect.
WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE
Support diversity in AIA by empowering female architects in all stages of their career to achieve professional and personal growth through networking, mentorship, shared knowledge and the support of one another.
