TECHNOLOGY IN ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE (TAP)
Our Mission
At AIA Triangle TAP, we explore emerging technologies that are transforming architecture and design. We aim to inspire architects, AIA members, and the public by showcasing innovative tools and workflows that enhance the way we practice. Through open dialogue and shared discovery, we collaborate on turning cutting-edge technologies into practical solutions for the built environment.
EVENTS
The 2025 Technology in Architectural Practice Symposium brings together bold ideas and breakthrough tools transforming the way we design and build. From the transformative power of AI to the insights unlocked by BIM and the breakthrough possibilities of Reality Capture, this year’s event spotlights the innovations reshaping today’s architectural practice. Join us to get inspired, make connections, and see how technology can elevate your work today—and tomorrow.

ABOUT US
CHAIR
Dolly Haardt, LEED, AP
Dolly is a Regional Design Technology Manager at Gensler in the Southeast Region, where she focuses on advancing team capabilities through BIM, Automation and Reality Capture. She holds a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design.
With over 20 years of experience, Dolly began her career in New York City, contributing to notable firms, playing a part in projects from concept to construction. This exposure fueled her interest in the transformative role of technology in architecture. Dolly took a significant career step by joining an Autodesk Reseller, where she assisted firms with technology solutions. Her role involved working with teams in implementing BIM, energy analysis, and 3D printing.
Driven by a desire for a deeper understanding of building and fabrication, Dolly became a Production Manager in a Metal Fabrication shop. Here, she implemented collaborative robot automation and digital productivity workflows. This experience provided valuable insights into the impact of technology on dynamic workflows, ultimately leading her back to architecture.
CO-CHAIR
Martin Chavanne, NCARB
Martin is a licensed architect (Buenos Aires and North Carolina), Principal and Design Team Leader at Cline Design. He focuses on the intersection of design and technology, leveraging 3d rendering, AI and other emerging technologies to push architectural innovation. His work explores new ways to enhance visualization, efficiency, and creativity in the design process.
CO-CHAIR
Shawn Michael, Designer
Shawn is a designer at Cline Design in Raleigh. Born outside Cleveland, he received his degrees from Kent State University and shortly thereafter escaped Ohio in search of better weather and more diverse design opportunities. He leads the extra-curricular design competition and R&D efforts at Cline, constantly seeking new opportunities to explore form, function, materiality, and teambuilding.
He’s partnered with the Raleigh TAP taskforce to better understand technological advancements in the field of architecture, as well as to raise awareness of what new tools and techniques are available to the local design community.
